<description>To Dr. Singh:It is with sadness that I read of your dear wife's passing. I remember you as a young man of 17, recuperating from hip surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. I was that 13 year old girl recuperating from spine surgery down the hall. We met only once, while watching a film in the hospital's theater, on adjoining gurneys. But I remember your traveling companions, a charming general (whose name I do not recall) and a captain from the army. The general, especially, became friendly with my parents, Dorothy and Ira Leonard, and were their houseguests in Allentown, Pennsylvania. And I have somewhere in a cardboard box from my past, a letter and Christmas card you sent me, delighting that young 13 year old girl. And now, reading about your illustrious life on your website, I learn that you have lost your wife. I send you my condolences, across the miles and across the years.

		<description>Dear Dr. Karan Singh,

It is with great sadness that I hear the passing away of Maharani Yasho Rajya Lakshmi. I heard it the very day in New Delhi when I was taking a return flight from a recent trip to India.

We have had the fortune of having you and Maharani ji visit Hamilton and Toronto a few years back and to listen to your wonderful lectures at McMaster University.

You may recall the informal evening at a place of one of our friends in Toronto. I will never forget how Yasho ji spent late hors in the night with a disabled young lady helping her earn to walk again. Yeasho ji was such a simple, charming and engaging personality. My friends still talk about her.

May God bless her soul and may you keep shining as ever with your splendid scholarship, statesmanship and people's leadership. As I like to say, you always have been and continue to be one of the few shining peronality in India that we can all be proud of.

I send you my sincere condolences.

Best wishes,
